2023 Young Ones ADC - Shortlisted

OBJECTIVES

To support new and current pet owners in caring for their pets, the CareCo app offers fun and easily digestible resources, helping owners feel more confident and comfortable in pet care.

PROBLEM

Many pets end up abandoned and returned to shelters because individuals often underestimate the responsibilities of pet ownership and make impulsive decisions when purchasing or adopting them.

SOLUTION

To educate and provide resources to prevent the mistreatment and abandonment of pets.

EMPATHY INTERVIEWS

We conducted interviews to gain insights into the firsthand experiences of our participants regarding their neurodivergent  difficulties and sources of comfort.

Virtual Pet Adoption Game

Users can interact with their virtual pet by cleaning, feeding, and loving. A badge is earned when the user completes each task. This allow the user to better understand the needs and wants of their pet.

We developed an interactive and engaging approach to educate pet owners on effective pet care, alleviating stress for both new and experienced pet owners.
